Brandenburg-based company metalltec GmbH Maschinenbau and SIEMENS A&D (Automation and Drives) of Nuremberg/Erlangen have signed a partnership agreement. As part of the Simatic – Machine – Vision partner programme, both companies intend to provide their customers with tailormade solutions in the field of image processing.

The initial result of this collaboration is a system for brake pads diagnostics for ICE trains. Metalltec's dynamic picture diagnostic system DPDS which is based on the Simatic VS 710 intelligent camera by Siemens A&D will be presented at InnoTrans.

Yesterday, Minister Junghanns also visited "metalltec", an engineering company based in Kirchmöser. Managing director Thomas Droll showed the Minister and Mayor Dietlind Tiemann the solar thermal power station built on the roof and inside the brick building which was home to the railroad engineers' trade union during the GDR era.

A small 120-square meter 1950s building in Brandenburg an der Havel, houses one of the most advanced technologies for generating heat, cold and even electricity in a confined space. In cooperation with Brandenburg University of Applied Science, metalltec GmbH Maschinenbau developed a radiation collector with combined heat and power.
